Our laboratory is equipped with a range of instruments to handle predominantly single crystal samples.  We do, however have the necessary equipment to do powder samples (Mo Ka radiation only).  The instruments are listed on this page along with some of their features.

  • Commissioned in August 2002.

  • State-of-the-art CCD (area detector) diffractometer with a 4-circle goniometer.

  • Enhance X-ray source & 3 kW ceramic X-ray tube (Mo Ka radiation).

  • US-built 3 kW Spellman X-ray generator (air-cooled and simply excellent).

  • Color video camera for crystal centering and face indexed numerical absorption corrections.

  • Easy-to-use and powerful Visual C++ (Windows) user interface on control computer.

  • Single crystal & powder samples.

  • Low temperature facility: state-of-the-art Cryojet system (liquid nitrogen) from Oxford Instruments.

  • Commissioned in 1986, this instrument is still operational.

  • Classic point detector with 4-circle goniometer.

  • 3 kW long fine focus glass X-ray tube (Mo Ka radiation).

  • Interfaced to a Windows 98 control computer.

  • Single crystal samples.

  • Operational pre-CAD4 single crystal and powder diffractometer.
  • Oscillation and Weissenberg photographs.
  • Debye-Scherer camera for powder samples.
  • Used mainly for teaching in the past. However we mostly use the Xcalibur 2 for this job now.
